Our sweet little Anna had to go through yet another birthday without her family. She turned 6 years old today. I thought about her all day long. What was she doing? Did anyone even acknowledge that it was her birthday today? We thought for sure she would be home by now with us, her forever family, celebrating her birthday. I do have faith in knowing that this will be the last birthday that she will celebrate in a mental institution, all alone. Hang on sweet girl, we are coming for you as fast as we can and you will have the biggest birthday party you can imagine. We leave in 13 days headed to her country for our second visit. Hopefully we will have court and she will be declared forever ours. I am dreaming of the day we carry her out of that place and begin our new lives together.
"Once our eyes are opened, we can't pretend we don't know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows that we know, and holds us responsible to act."

"Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, "Give them up!" and to the south, "Do not hold them back." Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth" Isaiah 43:5-6

This is our journal to rescue an orphan with Down syndrome who lives in an orphanage in Eastern Europe. Anna was left at the hospital by her parents, who refused to take her home because she was born with Down syndrome. In Anna's country people with disabilities are looked down upon and are typically hidden away in orphanages from birth and their outlook for life is not very good. Once the orphan turns 4-6 depending on the region they live in, they are then transferred from the orphanage to mental institutions or insane asylums. Our family desperately wants to make Anna our daughter before she is transferred as she is already 5 years old. We will love her and give her the family that she deserves and give her a future full of hope, despite her disability. When our family stepped out in faith and committed to adopt Anna we didn't have the money that it would take to get her here. God has worked miracles in so many aspects of our adoption. The biggest miracle is that I have had faith all alone that God would send the money we needed to adopt Anna. Through many answered prayers, God made sure we had every penny we needed to make her our daughter!

God is good......
Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
We were given a $1,000 donation tonight that was totally unexpected...which most of them have been, LOL. I'm still praising God and thanking him daily, several times a day, for providing the finances for Anna's adoption. I imagine I will do this for the rest of my life ;) I do not or have not lost sleep worrying about how or where the money would come from. I have had peace about it for a long time. I am not worried and will not worry, for he has not carried us this far to leave us. God is good.
For those of you who are adopting and are still praying for a miracle, keep at it. Tell God what you need and start thanking him for it....even before it comes. Expect a miracle.....

We're leaving........
We have a court date! I can't believe it...it's finally here! We go back to our girls country in about 3 weeks and go before a judge to be approved to adopt sweet Anna. After court we will return home and have to wait 10 business days to go back and get her! Please pray for our safety and for our children to be safe while we are away. They will be taken care of by family members but it is not easy to leave your children and be so far away from them. In fact....it's really, really hard. But little Anna needs us too and we just have to keep our eyes on the prize...yes she is definitely a prize and we can't wait to see her again and bring her home soon to join our family.
Would you also please pray that the rest of our financials are taken care of? We still need to raise about $2,000 to meet our goal and make our last trip to bring our daughter home :)

Don't walk....run!
over to Marissa's Bunny and check out the awesome giveaway they have! This family is desperate to raise funds to help pay for medical fees for the daughter Marissa, who has infantile spasms and another little boy that has the same condition. In order to raise funds to help pay for some of their medical fees they are holding an iPad giveaway and you might be the lucky winner! It only costs $2 to enter but of course the more you donate the more chances you have of winning! For every $1,000 goal that they reach, they will be giving away 5 iPads! This is an amazing chance for you to help a child in need and have a chance to win a great prize!
Infantile spasms are a debilitating condition that causes infants/toddlers to have multiple/many seizures a day, every day. Our daughter Ashlyn also had these horrible seizures as a baby but was blessed to be free from them after having them for a year. When the seizures began, Ashlyn ended up losing most of her muscle control and it took many years to recover. She didn't walk until she was 4 years and 10 months old due to the horrible seizures that she endured as a baby.
Won't you please make a donation to help these families who are facing a long road of treatment and hopefully recovery?

Please Pray!
We need your prayers! We got an email this morning telling us that our facilitator is going to talk with the judge and try to see if they will accept our medical exams if they expire just a couple of days after our court date. Our medical exams expire around the 25th of May, so the email I received this morning gives me hope that they are planning on us having a court date at the end of this month!!!!!! Please pray that we do not have to do our medical exams over because they will cost over $1,200 for both of us. Thank you for all of your prayers and donations. We still have donations coming in and we thank each of you for all that you have done for us to help us break Anna out of that institution and give her a loving family.
