"Once our eyes are opened, we can't pretend we don't know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows that we know, and holds us responsible to act."

"Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, "Give them up!" and to the south, "Do not hold them back." Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth" Isaiah 43:5-6

"Remember those…who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering." (Hebrews 13:3)

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…defend the rights of the needy." (Proverbs 31:8,9)

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'" Matthew 25:40
This is our journal to rescue an orphan with Down syndrome who lives in an orphanage in Eastern Europe. Anna was left at the hospital by her parents, who refused to take her home because she was born with Down syndrome. In Anna's country people with disabilities are looked down upon and are typically hidden away in orphanages from birth and their outlook for life is not very good. Once the orphan turns 4-6 depending on the region they live in, they are then transferred from the orphanage to mental institutions or insane asylums. Our family desperately wants to make Anna our daughter before she is transferred as she is already 5 years old. We will love her and give her the family that she deserves and give her a future full of hope, despite her disability. When our family stepped out in faith and committed to adopt Anna we didn't have the money that it would take to get her here. God has worked miracles in so many aspects of our adoption. The biggest miracle is that I have had faith all alone that God would send the money we needed to adopt Anna. Through many answered prayers, God made sure we had every penny we needed to make her our daughter!

Our home study

is finally finished....whew.....beginning to wonder if it was ever coming!!  Now I sit here waiting on forms that need to go in our dossier that are taking just as long as the home study took.  I just don't get it....they aren't long, gigantic papers, just need a siggy and a notary stamp.  Come on, come on, this sweet face is waiting for us!!  :)

Please pray for us.  We need our forms and we need $$$.  We need to raise $24,000 in a short amount of time.  I've been trying to come up with another fundraiser that would do just that....raise some $$$ for our baby girl Anna.  I hate the thought of her sitting in a crib, lonely.  No one comes to visit her or play with her.  Her family left her at birth.  Why?  Why does stuff like this happen to babies like Anastasia?  I will never be able to comprehend the reasoning behind it, but I guess that is because of the love we have for our daughter Ashlyn.  My love for her is so fierce, that I can't imagine leaving her at the hospital because of her having Down syndrome.  That is why we want to rescue Anastasia.  She will be a treasured gift to our family, just like Ashlyn is.  My oh my, what will we do with 2 princess girls in our home?  We can't wait to bring her home with us!

So, does anyone out there have any good fundraising ideas?  I have been thinking about maybe doing another prize give away, with maybe a laptop this time.  What do ya think??  Help! :)

well I am desperate for a macbook ;) ha ha! I have seen a lot of people auction of donated items. Maybe? I'll keep thinking! Is $4000 the only remaining that you need/!?!? That would be so awesome!

Could you sell t-shirts? I've seen people selling the "Show Hope" t-shirts, and you could probably do the same with the Wild Olive tees.

Another point is to get more blog traffic by participating in some linky themed posts, like Memorial Monday or Thankful Thursday, etc. People click over, and some of them might donate / buy.

If there was a way I could do a macbook...I would be all over doing that for a give away!! I sure wish we only had $4000 left to raise, but sadly no...we have way more than that. $4,000 was what we wanted to raise quickly, LOL.

Thanks for your suggestions, I will look into those ideas!

many restaurants will participate in fund raisers. Not sure where you are or what restaurants you have there. But I know Pizzeria Uno's does them. Cici's Pizza, too, I think. A lot of places will help you design a fundraiser. Wine stores, too! Usually where a percentage of sales will go to your cause.
